Hello Karen of Georgia,
I don't know how far south you are, here in upstate SC it's getting
late for some of the traditional fall vegetables. Spinach and lettuce
however like the cooler weather and do well. My wife and I especially
like spinach in the fall and winter, you cut it about an inch above
the ground and it'll grow back 2 or 3 times before next spring. Just
make sure to amend the soil well at planting.

i have planted 13 rows with at leaset 30 plants in each so i think they are getting enought pollination

Bill, you might not be getting good pollination. Are you planting rows at least 5x5 deep? Unless you want to pollinate your corn by hand, you need to plant enough for it to pollinate itself. That means at least a 5 plants by 5 plants deep. That's usually the main reason for this problem.

hey how is every body doing today i have a quick question i have planted corn for two years in a row and both years the corn has not got big it gets ears on the stocks but they never fully become ears of corn they did the same thing both years i wonder what i am doing wrong dose anybody know thank you very much.

That's great Roni! Your tomatoes can't be far behind! I got a couple of handfuls of Sweet 100 toms yesterday. I planted cukes later than I should have, and although I have tiny babies now, it will be a while before they are ready. What else are you growing?

We started harvesting our first cucumbers this week! Can't wait for the tomatoes to be ripe :)

Well, Corinthia, you've done the right thing by posting a blog. I'm sure others will comment or lament, since so many of us have a similar problem. I don't have squirrels in my veggie garden, thank goodness. I haven't had squirrels in the 5 years I've been in this place because I have so many dogs in the yard, but this year there is one very persistent one managing to stay out of the way of dogs, and he/she/it is destroying my bird feeders! Good luck with yours. There are several discussions up and running right now that involved squirrels. I hope he doesn't ruin your whole garden.
