Gardening through 2009~
I'm spending a lot of time planning new projects for the first showing of spring.
We have a high tunnel to erect, at least 4 new beds to build, and trees to plant.
My kitchen garden of rosemary, thyme, oregano, and sage is beautiful and producing.
It's lovely to look out when all else is covered in snow or icy crystals and see this bed of beautiful green.
It also supplies me with a steady snipping for hot tea.

- Ian, I love companion planting, saves a lot of work in the long term.
I plant basil amongst my tomatoes, marigolds everywhere and garlic in close proximity to the rose gardens.
We planted a wildflower bed this year and it has just begun to bloom...so pretty.
I have 4 bags of produce washed and sorted for friends who can't or don't garden...everything is so plentiful...already have most of what we will need into the freezer and preserved in other ways.
I'm taking a day off and away from the farm.

I have spent my morning, weeding and mulching a companion bbed in the garden.
The new vegetable garden is about 85ft square and in each corner I have put a 10ft x 10ft Quadrant. The idea is to plant flowers and shrubs that will attract in the insects and birds etc.
The 4 quadrant beds are now made and today, I weeded the first one and covered it with about 6 inches of straw. It has 4 or 5 shrubs in it at the moment but I will be planting more..

- Thanks Ian...I'm disappointed too...I was so looking forward to the journey, meeting you and the others who will be attending. Miracles do happen...so not totally ruling it out...guess that is from the desire to make it happen regardless.
Will certainly look you up when we do make the trip.

Hubby and I spent the day rebuilding the paths through the gardens.
Very hot and dirty work, but all is done and it looks so good.

Several people have experienced difficulty putting working links into comments and blogs etc and I know it is clumsy.... so here is how you do it.....
First type the text you want to appear.... ie IAN'S PAGE
Then go back and highlight the link text.
Then hit the hyperlink button...a pictogram of a chain link.
