Where do you live and garden?
Northern Minnesota
How long have you been growing food?
forever!
Dream garden travel destination:
Nova Scotia, Ireland, Norway and Australia
Favorite foods:
fresh from the garden of course -

Well I have had to GIVE UP!

The perils of living in a Trailer Court in Mahnomen Minnesota! The Land Lord or owner of the TRAILER court - chose to mow down all my garden space - plants, herbs - took my tools my tomato cages hoses everything -

So I will not be having a garden this year in the Town of Mahnomen Minnesota - this year as I have had Since 2002 -

Some time life just sucks! Oh well it will come back on them! in some form or another -
Oh and by the way - They live in an apartment on top of the Beauty shop they own and his wife runs - I often have refered to them as roof rats - and all they are surrounded by is Cement and Tar! The nearest tree to the is a good block away!

some people just do not know what they are missing!

Hi Becky, thank you for turning me on to kitchen gardens. I am learning a lot. I am trying to get a pic. of my apple tree and post it. My tree is sick. Joann came and took pic. of the garden and well i was going to download them and did not get to it. I may have potatoe bugs or slugs she said. i don't know anything about them it does not sound good to me. 1 red tomatoe and a whole lot of green ones it is cool. i been working out there in the morning almost have it all weeded. Learning about some of the weeds. You should come over and look at it. Maybe i can tell you what i want to do you could tell me how to do it. You know that side off the house that does not grow grass? Do you think i have to sod it? Sorry about spelling my dislexia is kicking in.

Becky, I understand the ''roots'' you have there, I have them here. It's good you made a report in case it happens again.Let him ''live'' in his little ''paint-by-number'' world. He isn't happy and he knows it too.Show him what a ''real'' person should be.One more thing,...faith is a VERB. Not a noun. I know you understand.

Green Circle Organization (GCO) is working on kitchen gardening / urban agriculture since many years in Pakistan. Some of the info you can find on www.gcopak.org. We would like to link our work with other intl orgs to share and learn. We have very good experience in enhancing urban food security. Pakistan has diverse climates and we would like to expand our work in different climatic zones in Pakistan. Any feedback in this regard would be welcome.

I have found myself starting to over-analyze the foods I use, in terms of their "organicness" or "sustainability". Wondering whether to buy the organic potatoes (or whatever) from 800 miles away, or the non-organic from 50 miles away can really su...

Hi Carol I grew up in Waterdown above the escarpment. We used to find them just outside the Freelton Bog. Not sure if they are still there. I raised my children on Garth Street and my grandkids on Cannon Street.

Several people have experienced difficulty putting working links into comments and blogs etc and I know it is clumsy.... so here is how you do it.....

First type the text you want to appear....  ie  IAN'S PAGE

Then go back and highlight the link text.

Then hit the hyperlink button...a pictogram of a chain link.

Your browser may intervene and request permission to allow temporary scripting or some similar message.   Allow it and go back and highlight the text again

Hi, I'm starting to put together a few guidlines on using the discussion forum on here.

I would be happy to hear any comments you may have.  This is very much a work in progress so plese feel free to ask me to add anything you think is needed.

I don't want to make our community hide bound by rules and regulations but I think that, as the community has grown, some explanation of what is expected is needed.
