Hii..this desease can cause death of entire leaf.symptoms are distruction of growing leaves and coalescing spots on leaves.it can be managed by applying spray of MANOCZEB OR HEXACAP(0.25%) or CARBENDAZIM(0.1%) at 15 days intervals.

Anyone have any success stories on combating this disease? Its on my leaves. I am curing compost tea for application. Just wondered if anyone had any advice. THanks!

I don't know what type of licensing you need, but I've seen "specialty meats" at our local farmers market. It's funny how something that was once everyday fare, is now considered "specialty".

Hi Darcy. I saw in the Pecking Order that you were asking about Americana chicks. I bought several Americanas this year. They won't be laying before fall. That will be interesting if they lay colored eggs. I'm quite familiar with layers of white and brown eggs. I've had silkies that lay green. I wasn't looking for any to lay colored eggs this time around, but it's nice to think I might get a rainbow. lol

Hi Darcy - What lovely photos!! I have a few Auaracanas left and will be ordering more. I love the pretty Easter egg colors, what a treat to the eyes. I think this year I am ordering from Murray McMurray hatchery for a change of pace.
Stop on by my page to check out my photos too - I love all your plants and things!

Hi Darcy,It has been so cold and dry here that I'm not really doing much gardening lately. The collards and brussel sprouts are still doing good. Bugs attacked the mustard and turnips but the were good for a long time. I started the Masters Gardening class 2 weeks ago and its been very informative. Expecting another cold spell this weekend, I remind myself to just enjoy it because the heat and humidity will soon be upon us. 30 or 98 don't know which is better. I have been reading and ordering seeds and planning the spring garden trying to figure out how to get an early start for the warm up, without a green house, it will be challenging. I lost everything last year with the late frost, Keep in touch I love my gardening friends!!

Believe it or not we actually get colder here than where you are. I was shocked. something about the sand not retaining heat or something. That wind is blowing like crazy. I have milk jugs filled with water out in the sun i read somewhere that you can put them next to plants and cover them all up and that it protects the plants, Haven't ever tried it before now, so we'll see .... hope it works. Hershell keeps asking when he gets to eat collards so tomorrow night sounds like the plan, It was cold this morning but no frost must be the wind. Stay warm and good luck to you too!

Hi Darcy can you believe this weeks forecast? I have been covering everything up hoping for the best. I sure enjoyed your pictures . Will be going over that way next month to visit my sisters in Pensacola . i lived in Ft Walton worked in San Destin for years, Can't believe how much it's growing and changing there. Next April I will have been a Taylor County country girl 6 years. It was a big adjustment but once I got my hands in the dirt I new I was home.
Looking forward to getting to know you

Wow! Barcelona! Many of the people I'm meeting on this website have done a lot of traveling - around the US, and around the world. I've vitisted 14 US states. I was born in France, and visited England, but they don't really count because I left both countries before I was 2 years old. LOL.

I love the photos you've posted. You have a great eye for photography. I think I'll leave comments on the individual photos instead of here because I could make a comment on just about every one of them!

For an amateur, you're learning fast, and doing great! Maybe it's because I have never really been settled down before the last few years, but I'm only just getting into winter gardening myself. This year is my third winther garden. First year was spectacular! Second year sucked. This year, not bad. I am encouraged by what I've read on the others' pages on this site, to grow other things too next winter.

I'm looking forward to seeing "how your garden grows" through this winter.

Hi there. I was just reading the forum on pests in the KG, Southern Style, and saw you there. I have my home and garden in Georgia. There are lots of folks from Florida on this site.

Right now I've got tomatoes, squash, cucumbers, lettuce and rosemary in my greenhouse. Out in the winter garden we've got collards and cabbage, and we have some eggplants that haven't fruited yet, and some bell pepper plants that are fruiting still holding on in the summer garden. The temps have been cooling, but the sun is still intense, and we are delighted that the peppers and eggplants are still holding on.

This is the season when I will pull out my gardening books and re-read them. I've already started sorting seed packets that I have left over from last year.

Welcome aboard KGI! It's a great place.

The Power of Pooo!

Well, I've never used it before but now I've a flat bed trailer load of it. Through quite interesting means I came across all my hearts desire of assorted manure of certain barnyard animals. I went with my father and scooped a flat bed trailers worth. It is now sitting covered in my back yard awaiting for its potential wealth to be spread. In the next two weeks I shall decimate my winter garden, aside from a few patches of delectables, aka carrots and broccoli. I have already begun planting toma… Continue

Hi shery, The reason farmer put thing in the cellar was it stayed 55-60 degrees year around & a dry cool mostly. The best thing is to store any veggies where air can circulate. One way is to build a 2"x4" frame with cross runner every 24", you can...
