Spring at last
One week to go before the Master Gardener exam. Have enjoyed the course immensely learning a lot. The class visited the research education garden yesterday WOW. Deb's Easy Quick Turnip Root Dish
This is so easy and soooo good. I lightly peel the turnips slice them and boil till tender. doesn't take as long as boiling potatos. Then drain melt some butter in and sprinkle generously with lemon pepper.

Several people have experienced difficulty putting working links into comments and blogs etc and I know it is clumsy.... so here is how you do it.....
First type the text you want to appear.... ie IAN'S PAGE
Then go back and highlight the link text.
Then hit the hyperlink button...a pictogram of a chain link.

Glad to hear from you! I'm surprised to hear that we are not light years behind you in FL on planting!.. I still have a good foot to two feet of snow in areas of my yard. Patches of the woods are now bare. I did get outside and do some cleaning up in my herb garden.. and would have got more done, but Drat! I have to work for a living! :)
I saw on the Weather Channel the nasty weather that is in your region! Yikes! I'm putting a prayer out there that you will be safe and the rain will fall gently!
Everyone here, have a serious case of cabin fever! I drive down the road, and see people out peeking into their garden plots.. looking oh, so hopeful!
Along the house, my chives are popping up and so are the other herb plants... daffodils too. My ravens are back and starting to nest again too.
We have a huge amount of work to do to clean up all the dead fall from the ice storm. I have many trees to trim, cut and tons of down limbs I'll have to deal with when I can get to them.
We are getting rain later, and I hope it will help melt a lot of this yucky white stuff!
I'll be looking forwards to seeing photos of your efforts!

Starting in the center;
Creator (God) any or all plants
Mother Earth- corn , beans, squash,
Father Sun/Sky- sunflower
Grandmother moon- mugwort
North- sweet grass
East- tobacco
South- sage
West- cedar
These are the basic ones. For a complete list I advise reading "Dancing with the Wheel" by Sun Bear. Or on-line you can find charts of the plants and stones by Googling "dancing with the wheel". It is extensive... and my carpel tunnel is acting up this AM!! Or, I'd type it!
I've got to go play flute later at a flute class, so I guess I'd best quit now while I can still fell my hands!
Hope this helps... and actually, my belief is that a Medicine Wheel should be individual... so what plants resonate with you? You have the tobacco and that could be your center for Creator... then go from there.
You asked about the Medicine Wheel... and I replied to that... to remind me.... Ha-ha... now can you see a pattern here? I know I'll forget, so I try to remind myself ahead of time!!!
