I will have to take a look at it. This has not been a good year for growing herbs here in Massachusetts- too rainy and cold. Everything is spotted and stunted. *sigh* I miss my herb teas!

It's easy to control lemon balm. Just pull out the unwanted plants. The best way to stop them from spreading is to remove the flowers after them bloom. You can replant the strays in a different spot if you don't like throwing them on the compost heap…

I usually use the sees form some that I bought inthe store. They sprout well, and taste good. I don't think they are as sweet as the store bought ones, but they work just fine for me. I have been doing this fir a few years now, and very successfully…

Gardening is my therapy! I don't know what I would do without it! Some days I can only do 5 minutes, but that is better than nothing. Some days all I do is walk around and look at things. But it is so gratifying to see the things that I planted grow…

Let's talk about how age and health issues can threaten our desire/ability to garden, how they affect how much we can do, and how we overcome the challenges through determination and ingenuity.

I would like this group to focus on kitchen herb gardens, be they culinary or medicinal. What do you grow, what do you use it for, do you make any medicinal products from your herbs?

Well, maybe when it comes to Quenya, but not gardening. I am anxious for the warm weather to come. I have started a grape tomato in my house which is about 2 inches tall now. If I have a lot of sun it will eventually bloom, and maybe I will have small tomatoes by the time Memorial Day gets here. I don't have a plant light or anything to heat it with, so it is just sitting in the dining room window.
I envy those of you who have such long growing seasons.

What a noble endeavor! Yes, I am a fan, student. When I was in high school, I wrote in elven but do not remember the symbols. I have a friend who spoke Quenyan to her little baby.

KG Day - Help us choose a date!

Kitchen Garden Day has traditionally been celebrated at the end of August which is a great time for gardens in temperate, northern climates but not a great time for many other gardeners around the world (e.g. August is winter in the southern hemisphere, monsoon season in India, too hot for many gardeners in southern states, etc.).

We're exploring the possibility of changing the date to the spring and would like your input. Please answer our poll here.

I think this might need it's own category, don't you? Tomatoes are one of the most popular things to grow and we've been placing them in all kinds of groups, but the fact is we almost all grow them, and they have specific needs.

HOW TO - ADD A LINK

Several people have experienced difficulty putting working links into comments and blogs etc and I know it is clumsy.... so here is how you do it.....

First type the text you want to appear....  ie  IAN'S PAGE

Then go back and highlight the link text.

Then hit the hyperlink button...a pictogram of a chain link.

Your browser may intervene and request permission to allow temporary scripting or some similar message.   Allow it and go back and highlight the text again

Forum Policy

Hi, I'm starting to put together a few guidlines on using the discussion forum on here.

I would be happy to hear any comments you may have.  This is very much a work in progress so plese feel free to ask me to add anything you think is needed.

I don't want to make our community hide bound by rules and regulations but I think that, as the community has grown, some explanation of what is expected is needed.
