I have a dear friend who harvests what looks like this every year on her acreage near Bancroft, Ontario (Canada). It is known in this area as Wild Leek. She pickles, and freezes, and uses fresh for stir-fry. It is only available for harvesting for…

I would love to find wild garlic, I have never seen it. Can you dry it?
May 18
Hi Heidi, It could be wild garlic. If it is the bulb will have LOTS of tiny satellite bulbs around it. I'm in the south west of France and harvesting now before the plants get too large. We have hundreds in all over our garden. We use it like salad…

Thanks for looking, Landscape, it has not put out shoots yet. This edible part is within the white bulb in the shoot?

Sure looks like regular garlic plants to me. It looks as though an entire bulb was planted in the same hole. If it is garlic you will be able to harvest it when about 2/3 of the leaves are dead. Hope this helps and keep us updated...................…

The photo is here. I'm not sure if this is onion, wild garlic, ramps? The greens taste chive like. Last summer, they put out shoots at one point with whitish round balls. Would love identity advice and ideas of when to harvest them! Thank you!

Can anyone identify this? Is it wild garlic, ramps? The greens taste like chives. At some point the will make shoots with white round bulbs coming off of them. Would love to know what it is, and when to harvest, thanks!

KG Day - Help us choose a date!

Kitchen Garden Day has traditionally been celebrated at the end of August which is a great time for gardens in temperate, northern climates but not a great time for many other gardeners around the world (e.g. August is winter in the southern hemisphere, monsoon season in India, too hot for many gardeners in southern states, etc.).

We're exploring the possibility of changing the date to the spring and would like your input. Please answer our poll here.

I think this might need it's own category, don't you? Tomatoes are one of the most popular things to grow and we've been placing them in all kinds of groups, but the fact is we almost all grow them, and they have specific needs.

Then hit the hyperlink button...a pictogram of a chain link.

I don't want to make our community hide bound by rules and regulations but I think that, as the community has grown, some explanation of what is expected is needed.
