Dear Nadeem Sahib,

Thanks for your encouraging response. Would it be convenient for you to have a session for exchanging ideas in relation to our emerging project on school gardening over the week end. I live in Shehzad Town and could come over to NARC farms or any other place you like.

I am impressed of your expertise, creativity and commitment for the cause of 'Food for All'. There are quite bright prospects for popularizing the idea of 'school gardening' in Pakistan, and for this to happen NCHD can be a potential platform in achieving tengible results. I would give you a call to fix our meeting. Thanks.

Best Wishes and Profound Regards,

Ghulam Qasim Khan

Hello Mr. Nadeem,
Ms. Kathryn gave me your email to talk to you about our new project, you might be aware of by now through this Website. Could you kindly help us professionally for the school kitchen garden intervention of our project below:

I am working in National Commission for Human Development as Head of Department (M&E). we are working on a Mid-Day Meal (MDM) project for students in formal and non-formal basic education schools in Malakand Division. We inter alia intend to launch kitchen gardening as one of the interventions in our MDM project. Is there some to help us plan with this intervention. The following are the Goals and Objectives of our MDM project:

Goals
Primary:
i. Improvement of nutritional and health status of the primary school children (5-9 years old) and reduction of social and gender inequities,

Secondary:
ii. Addressing the issue of extremism in Malakand Division by developing an alternative institutional mechanism in parallel to Madaris presently serving as the nursery for producing warriors and suiciders.

Objectives related to Primary Goal:

Primary Objectives:
i. Amelioration of malnutrition among the 713,285 school-age children (5- 12 years) in 4,943 primary schools.
ii. Improvement in school enrollment, retention and cognitive learning; and
iii. Providing access to out of school children in the community.

Secondary Objectives:
i. Creation of awareness about balanced diet, health and hygiene for better living in the community;
ii. Promotion of women empowerment;
iii. Creation of spin off effect in local economic;
iv. Reduction of Poverty by providing Job Opportunities to community women
v. Improving entrepreneurial skill of women;
vi. Targeting the Poor and Vulnerable

Objectives related to secondary Goal:
The primary and secondary Objectives above related to Primary Goal do subscribe to Secondary Goal whereby these address the issue of extremism. For example, provision of mid-day meal to children in schools, retention of children in formal primary schools, women empowerment, boost in local economy leading to more development and employment prospects for local populace dovetailed with improving entrepreneurial skills of women would definitely result in addressing the issue of extremism and block the flow of youngsters to Madaris.

Waiting for response!

Thanks.

Hi shery, The reason farmer put thing in the cellar was it stayed 55-60 degrees year around & a dry cool mostly. The best thing is to store any veggies where air can circulate. One way is to build a 2"x4" frame with cross runner every 24", you can...

I don't want to make our community hide bound by rules and regulations but I think that, as the community has grown, some explanation of what is expected is needed.
