The photo looks a bit stretched out vertically, these 'fruits' are much more rounded than this photo shows. Maybe the leaves can also give a clue to whether they're pumpkins or not.

This morning I went out early to do some weeding and, of course, check on my new friends. The tree was humming like crazy and few bees were on the outside, but enough to stir the curiosity of our pup. He stuck his nose into one of the two holes th...

Well, now THATs a good question. I thought milk was the only way to make it. I thought of it as an alternative to buttermilk. How off base am I? (I've got my email open and am about to send on to the gal who offered to teach me about this.) About ...

I didn't mean to be so dismissive in my post, Maggie. It just made me laugh when my son made his dry witted comment. I fully intend on trying it, because I know it's healthy and that's what the husband and I are working on, getting a healthier die...

Sharon, My younger son has made me curious about Kombucha, as have several members of a food co-op I'm in. I had to laugh though, the other day with my son posted on his Facebook page these words: "Today my kombucha tastes like toe." He cracks me ...

The recipe you mention was in the group Kitchen Gardens Southern Style.
Jared asked for leek soup recipes. some blanched sorrel could be added to any potato and leek soup to get that lemony tang.
I make sorrel and potato soup, you can add a little cream at the end.
Tamra is a KGI member who has her own blog. Tamra has a sorrel soup recipe under the seasons recipes. There is a link to her blog on her page.

Hi shery, The reason farmer put thing in the cellar was it stayed 55-60 degrees year around & a dry cool mostly. The best thing is to store any veggies where air can circulate. One way is to build a 2"x4" frame with cross runner every 24", you can...

We will focus this group on different methods of preservation. Canning, drying and freezing are common, but do you preserve your harvest by some other methods? I hope that we can share methods and techniques in this group. Please share pictures!
