Hi Tamara
Nice comments on my garden; thanks for that. I`m ashamed to say, due to me having a fulltime job I now find little time to tend my plots and they have been rather neglected since last June. Nothing looks so tidy anymore, and I hate not having the time to spend on it anymore. Just like you, I hate being stuck indoors and will take any opportunity to get out there. My work has made it quite hard to find the time. But, I`m determined to grow something again this season, so I have started off some chilli peppers, tomatoes, aubergines and mixed salad leaves on my bedroom windowsill. Slugs are a pain in the backside here in Britain and they will eat anything in site. So, I lost an awful lot of seedlings last year when I didn`t have the time to patrol my patch. I`m hoping to grow my seedlings on a bit longer this year, to let them mature more before planting out. Weekends are my only spare days now and I can`t wait for the weather to be more favourable, so I can get out there and assemble a new coldframe I bought last summer but never had the time to errect. All my garden plots have been surrounded with recycled materials, and nothing ever cost me much. The square bed in the top of the garden has wooden sides I recycled from an old shed. The flag stones around it were a gift from a neighbour that was disgarding them. All the other materials were already in my garden when I first moved here, and I just re-arranged them to suit me. It`s amazing what a bit of imagination can do, lol.

Hi Sarina,
As you can see, I haven't logged on to the website for some time...I've been busy cooking, manuring the orchard/garden, and now pruning fruit trees etc...
As the time to plant grows nearer, I checked in and foung your offer of companion planting info. I am still interested. You can email me directly at info@gotta-cook.com .
I really would appreciate it.

Hi Sarina, McPete 'ere, you have a beautiful space too. You know I grew up skiing with my German uncle, Norbert Adolf Otto Paul Nizze, and we used to speak a fair amount of basic German and sang all the Christmas songs in German too. I miss his nokwerst (?) and sauerkraut marinaded in German beer, even though I rarely eat meat now. I saw a short bit of London while passing through to get married in Croatia last year, Picadilly Circus, St Paul's Cathedral and the Tate Modern, and some pubs. Keep updating your pictures as the crops roll in, and I will do the same, McPete.

Thanks for the kind words Sarina! Believe it or not they are not considered to be Albino because they do not have pink eyes - rather, they are considered to be mutations -
I love your pictures and how tidy you keep your garden *sigh* I will! never be a tidy gardener!
I have always wanted to learn how to belly dance - you look so lovely in costume! Belly dancing is very sexy to me - did it take you long to learn how to? It is excellent exercise too isn't it?

Has anyone else considered living by a 100-mile diet (only eating foods grown/raised within 100 miles of your house)? I just listened to a really amazing podcast on a couple from Vancouver, BC who did it for a year and am inspired to try it myself...

I think one major thing to consider when gardening on your flat roof top or balcony, is the weight of the pots/compost and the strength of the structure you are placing them on.

Hi Gillian I totally agree about the sweet potato leaves. I thought they were great to eat as well.

Hi, I'm starting to put together a few guidlines on using the discussion forum on here.

I don't want to make our community hide bound by rules and regulations but I think that, as the community has grown, some explanation of what is expected is needed.
