Skip, you have been busy. We have something in common. My Mom moved in with me a few years back and has been teaching me some tricks from my grandmother but she's scared of the pressure canner, so that's my job. If the stovetop wasn't so fussy, it...

Since Teri found the old post, I'll update. I planted it in the front flower bed with several other herbs (thyme, rosemary, sage, lavender and a bay in a large pot), flowers (zinnias, day lillies, echinacea, small sunflowers, daisies, etc) and a c...

this is an old post, but i'm new here so it's new to me! if you're talking about tagetes lucida, my experience with it is that it can take more sun in the ground than it can in a container; and in either case, it's probably best described as semi ...

Hi Sharon and welcome to the Berry Growers group!
I hope you can post some pictures of your berry patch.
I am not familiar with dewberries as I have never lived that far south. Can you share some more info about them?

Hi Kathy - Well until this week it was still warm enough down here to get some fall cleanup and planting done and some expansion of the kitchen garden. Tomorrow we will be down around 25 so my busy schedule outside will scale back for a couple of months. I get through early winter by planning what we want to plant and where and going through last year's catalogs and websites to narrow my choices some. Then we just throw all of that away and circle too many things when the catalogs arrive. Well, not quite that bad, but it seems to be a trend!

Hi shery, The reason farmer put thing in the cellar was it stayed 55-60 degrees year around & a dry cool mostly. The best thing is to store any veggies where air can circulate. One way is to build a 2"x4" frame with cross runner every 24", you can...

Bees and other creatures pollinate our crops. Birds and toads eat insect pests. Many animals play a helpful role in the vegetable garden. How can we make our garden friends feel at home?

Forum Policy

Hi, I'm starting to put together a few guidlines on using the discussion forum on here.

I would be happy to hear any comments you may have.  This is very much a work in progress so plese feel free to ask me to add anything you think is needed.

I don't want to make our community hide bound by rules and regulations but I think that, as the community has grown, some explanation of what is expected is needed.
