Stuffed Peppers

I tend to have a veggie garden and then life gets busy, and I let it grow over. Some years I have one some I don't. This year I made a commitment to grow more of my own food. I am started small, just banana peppers, green peppers, 3 varieties of hot peppers and tomatoes. So far everything is better then expected. I have such an abundance of green peppers, I am amazed at the amount I have been able to harvest. Today, I am making stuffed peppers, yummy! I have decided to try the raised bed method… Continue

Hi again.

Thanks for the photo, they look like what we call paprika. The drums you indicated is quite a good idea as we used smaller containers to plant potatoes. What you do is you cover the seed with just enough to make it germinate, thereafter you keep topping up the container to "pull" the plant as much as you can before the leaves start forming. The concept hereof is to increase the length of the tuber bearing section and thereby increase the number of tubers that form. In other words, double or even tripple the yield out of one plant! Smart idea, isnt it?
We also used 44 gallon drums to plant strawberries in. Simply fill the drum with soil and then make as manny holes in the sides as you can. Plant the strawberries and put an end to ants and other ground pests raiding your crop. No maintenance required ! This also allows one to do plenty in small spaces!

Here is a picture of what they look like. They are a sweet pepper, I have heard them called pepperochini peppers and Tuscan Peppers.

Hi there.

I read your comment about peppers and wondered what a Bannana Pepper is. We have only red, yellow and green peppers that I have seen.

Care to explain what it is?

The more I read about some popular and not so popular plants, the more I worry a bit about whether I'm potentially eating something poisonous. For example, I read recently that the leaves, flowers, paper husk and even the unripe fruit of most of t...

I like it.
I like to have two eggs in the mornings - and bacon if I have any at home. Mostly fried eggs and bacon or banana, but sometimes boiled or poached, or even two raw eggs beaten up frothy with a bit of milk and vanilla and cinnamon.

I purchased a lime tree a couple of months ago. I planted it with plenty of compost, and have been feeding it Epsom Salts every few weeks, and also sprinkled some 3:1:5 around it as the leaves started turning yellow. The little tree has now lost a...

That really is beautiful. I almost wish you had not posted the pictures because I am already thinking of a spot in my front yard that would lend itself to something like this. Thanks for the inspiration.

Blue Lake green beans grow long and slender. Lima beans are generally shorter and wider. Some limas, especially those grown outside the US, can be poisonous. This is due to a compound called phaseolunatin, a cyanogenic glycoside that breaks down ...

Hi Folks, I have about 20 bush bean plants, and the blue lakes and lima bean plants got mixed up. Honestly, they all look the same to me. I've been harvesting the beans and cooking them in the shell. I don't know if the beans we've been eating are...
