Hi - the flower you asked about may be the Blue passion flower. Kind of frilly blue top with the white lower petals?

I grow a little bit of everything. I love to grow herbs. I so far have just done culinary herbs this year I intend to do medicinal also. I see you enjoy baked goods. Rosemary, oregano, sage make great breads.

It's good to meet you and I look forward to hearing about your gardening exploits in India. During the winter months, I manage to keep mostly greens in the garden for fresh eating, along with turnips, onion, beets and garlic. I just discovered this year how good roasted beets are, and I wish I had planted more!

I'd love to hear about what and how you garden. Great to meet you!

Right now I have cold hardy veggies, leafy greens like collards, kale, raab and all kinds of Asian greens.

In early spring I will have salad greens, carrots, beets, and onions

in the summer I will have potatoes, beans, corn, melons, squash, cucumbers, tomatoes, peppers, okra, garlic, and onions. I also have fruits like strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, apples, peaches, and pears.

T/ Ravindermath, welcome to KGI. You will love it here lots of different growing and climate conditions and lots of interesting vegetables, furits and flowers. Tell as a little about your climate and the things that you grow. A few years ago I was given a cd of an Indian Classical musican by a mother at the preshool that I worked, and have enjoyed listening to it ever since.

KG Day - Help us choose a date!

Kitchen Garden Day has traditionally been celebrated at the end of August which is a great time for gardens in temperate, northern climates but not a great time for many other gardeners around the world (e.g. August is winter in the southern hemisphere, monsoon season in India, too hot for many gardeners in southern states, etc.).

We're exploring the possibility of changing the date to the spring and would like your input. Please answer our poll here.

I think this might need it's own category, don't you? Tomatoes are one of the most popular things to grow and we've been placing them in all kinds of groups, but the fact is we almost all grow them, and they have specific needs.

HOW TO - ADD A LINK

Several people have experienced difficulty putting working links into comments and blogs etc and I know it is clumsy.... so here is how you do it.....

First type the text you want to appear....  ie  IAN'S PAGE

Then go back and highlight the link text.

Then hit the hyperlink button...a pictogram of a chain link.

Your browser may intervene and request permission to allow temporary scripting or some similar message.   Allow it and go back and highlight the text again

Forum Policy

Hi, I'm starting to put together a few guidlines on using the discussion forum on here.

I would be happy to hear any comments you may have.  This is very much a work in progress so plese feel free to ask me to add anything you think is needed.

I don't want to make our community hide bound by rules and regulations but I think that, as the community has grown, some explanation of what is expected is needed.
