Hi Again Val,

Yep, the Tassel Ears are all on "Tillers", so I think I have a F1 variety that is susceptible to tillering behaviour in rich soils.

The thread continues over HERE.

Thanks again - love your blog

Hi Val,

Thank you for your comment about the Tassel Ear in corn. That is a really useful poster. It isn't quite the same, but very close - I am waiting for it to get light enough outside to go and see if they are all on "Tillers" (new word for me), then I will take your post (hope you don't mind), and my follow-up over to the Australian site. Will drop back and let you know when I have done that.

Thanks!

Hi Val. Welcome to KGI. This is a really great website, and I hope you'll think the same before too long. Our members are professionals and amateurs, beginners and long-time gardeners. Some garden on acres of land, some on lots, some in containers, and at least one on her window sill! I hope you will take the time to peruse our membership. We have several members from Alabama, and maybe some from your area. You could do a membership search and find out.
We have a lot of great groups. You might be interested in Kitchen Garden Communicator's Group, or Back Yard Kitchen Herbalist Group. We also have a group for master gardeners, and several Organic gardening groups. Join as many groups as you like.
The forum discussions are always interesting, informative, and fun to participate in. The blogs are also interesting and informative, and sometimes sentimental. Lots of folks post great recipes on their blogs.
And the photographs are absolutely inspirational! I hope you will post some of your own photos when you get the chance. We all love to see each others pics!
Enjoy yourself at KGI, And, oh, leave comments! Anywhere and everywhere! Members really enjoy getting comments on their pages, blogs, forums, and photos. It's how we meet each other!
Best wishes, and Happy Holidays!

Hello Glenn, I sow seeds for tomatoes sometimes in September. The plants live for 2 years, but it is advisable to replace them after one year.

Hi Muhammad You have a great garden, the soil looks quite sandy, but it must be very fertile. If your tomatoes grow all year round, what time of year do you sow your seeds and how long do the plants live?

HOW TO - ADD A LINK

Several people have experienced difficulty putting working links into comments and blogs etc and I know it is clumsy.... so here is how you do it.....

First type the text you want to appear....  ie  IAN'S PAGE

Then go back and highlight the link text.

Then hit the hyperlink button...a pictogram of a chain link.

Your browser may intervene and request permission to allow temporary scripting or some similar message.   Allow it and go back and highlight the text again

Forum Policy

Hi, I'm starting to put together a few guidlines on using the discussion forum on here.

I would be happy to hear any comments you may have.  This is very much a work in progress so plese feel free to ask me to add anything you think is needed.

I don't want to make our community hide bound by rules and regulations but I think that, as the community has grown, some explanation of what is expected is needed.

Recipes, Recipes, Recipes

Hi Everyone,  I've started to collect together recipes from various posts on the site and put them all together here.

If you have a recipe you want to add on here, just post it on the site and leave a comment on my page telling me where it is and I'll go and fetch it back here.

They are organised in Contributor Order but I'm open to better suggestions!
