Whew - don''t think that we can access the program here in North America - in any event, didn't pop up in your link. Perhaps someone else has heard of this method - sounds good - still don't know what the purpose of the foil is other than to protect…

Hi Marion This is a link to the programme. Please let me know if you can see it, or if it is restricted to the UK. He did not seem to seal the edges of the foil. I think though that a plastic zip bag would be best as it is totally sealed.

Hi: Thanks for the suggestion - haven't heard of that one but would be worthwhile trying. Don't quite know what the foil does - do they then put the foil in bags or straight into the freezer

I saw on the TV recently that they were picking their herbs, putting between folded tin foil and freezing straight away. When de-frosted they said the herbs stayed quite fresh. I don,t know if it works as i havn,t tried it.

My grandmother is something of a mystery...my mother had said she lived at a convent, ??St Anne's, don't know why. I am trying to do some genalogy research and found bits and pieces but have not been able to access the things on the Canadian end yet. I hope to pick it up again in the near future.
Her father's name was Hector MacKenzie and he was from somewhere in Scotland. Her mother's name was Mary.
Mother never got to visit Canada but I hope one day I can.
Look forward to talking more...B

All About Dogwood

Red osier dogwood is just the best plant for this time of year – cut down some branches – you can find them in fields and ditches and then place them in garden pots or containers. Fill the over-season containers with soil to hold the stems. Attach some of those low voltage bulbs and you are all set for a fine looking decoration to brighten up those dull Winter days.

Easy & Attractive Indoor Planter

Just looking for something to add color to your indoor décor this winter, Kalanchoe is one of the most popular potted plants. It is easy to find in garden centers and nurseries, and provides brilliant color together with bright green leaves. It is fairly hardy and requires little water, regular watering however will ensure regular blooming.

Large Bloom Containers

Why did those large garden planters look so good this past season, one reason is the incorporation of Controlled Release Fertilizer or Time Release Fertilizer. It comes in pellets and is an improved version of Slow Release Fertilizer in that it is released based on soil temperature itself, more exact than Slow Release Fertilizer.

KG Day - Help us choose a date!

Kitchen Garden Day has traditionally been celebrated at the end of August which is a great time for gardens in temperate, northern climates but not a great time for many other gardeners around the world (e.g. August is winter in the southern hemisphere, monsoon season in India, too hot for many gardeners in southern states, etc.).

We're exploring the possibility of changing the date to the spring and would like your input. Please answer our poll here.

I think this might need it's own category, don't you? Tomatoes are one of the most popular things to grow and we've been placing them in all kinds of groups, but the fact is we almost all grow them, and they have specific needs.

Several people have experienced difficulty putting working links into comments and blogs etc and I know it is clumsy.... so here is how you do it.....

First type the text you want to appear....  ie  IAN'S PAGE

Then go back and highlight the link text.

Then hit the hyperlink button...a pictogram of a chain link.

Your browser may intervene and request permission to allow temporary scripting or some similar message.   Allow it and go back and highlight the text again

Hi, I'm starting to put together a few guidlines on using the discussion forum on here.
