Hi TAR HEEL,
Getting any rain up there.
I am not getting much here . I am going to plant sugar pea this weekend, hope it not too dry or hot to start them.
Ahh, I see what you meant..to the left it's a young bay type tree that's in between mine and my neighbors house in the tiny side courtyard there. The window you see in this picture is my neighbors garage window. To the right just above the tomatillos is a bradford pear tree. They actually grew all the way up into the tree last year.
Sadly I don't live there anymore....my new backyard doesn't have a single tree
Hi Tar,
changing your photo is pretty easy, I'll talk you through it.
First you need to get the photo you want to use and make sure it's not too big... No more than 2Meg if I remember correctly. You should also try and make the photo square or it will change.
go to"My Page" i:e: your home page
under your photo you'll see an option Manage My Page or Photo
That will take you to the My settings psge with a box to put in the location of the photo you want to use. You can browse to find the photo
Once you have entered the photo location scroll to the very bottom of the page, where you'll find a save button
Save the page settings and you're all done.
It might take a few minutes before you see your new photo on your page.
Any problems and come back to me

My corn was down a bit, but Biff staked it We will harvest any day. I picked the first Mortgage Lifter, but it is in need of a few days inside to ripen. The plant is so heavy we are having such a time keeping it upright. Double cages and multiple stakes. Now we have a tee pee style staking. I decided to remove some of the heavier fruit to encourage ripening and production and to lighten it up. So far, an adequate amount of tomatoes that are huge. I will let you know about taste in a few days and futre production. The Cherokee Purple is a hefty, meaty deep colored tomato with green shoulders and can be oddly shaped. At first it was the ugly duckling of my varieties and was rejected by most who were sampling my heirlooms.....more for me! But after one taste, they quickly have become a favorite. I stepped up the production this year.
Hi Tar, yes. I remember that as well, but NING have made a lot of improvements lately and I suspect that little dot took a lot of processing power for not much return... So my guess is it got pulled.
The new chat room lists everyone on line and you can go directly to their page from there.
Hi again,
I've added a chat feature which appears at the bottom of the "main" page. II'll leave it there for a week or two and see what feedback I get.
Hi Tar,
I've had a look around and can't see any way of providing that information for you. I'll bear the request in mind though, in case anything appears in the future
Ian
Will do on the Mortgage Lifter. This year my Cherokee Purples have gone bonkers. They are huge and very prolific. I am not sure what the deal it there. They are my favorite tomato and I have grown them for years but for whatever reason they are growing well. I did add a bit of liquid organic Cal - mag into some seaweed tea and have watered them several times this year. Supposedly to boost bloom production and setting. maybe that is the difference. Plus, we have had rain. So I feel belssed and will be exxxxxxtra thankful to God for the bounty.
Thanks Tar Heel! I have to many family up here in the Northern Woods of Minnesota - Moving is not an option - I just filed a theft of property report - with the sheriff office - My life it just to hecktic right now with the start up of a new business - have so many projects in the works - books to create /write and get published - Before the fall Season - as I am a Personal Publishing and Design Consultant - I teach and show people how to tell their stories - thru the art of Storybooking - and also preserve their family photos and heritage - In Fact I will be doing a book on the Wild food Summits and the Various Camps we do up here - as well as the Garden Projects - using all the Photos taken these past 5 years -
The Garden Stuffs / foods will arrive and come to me when I need them- the Creator knows me well - and provides what I need when I need it! It just comes... and then I put it up and store it! I ended up with an entire pickup load last fall of Tomatoes - canned and dried for darn near a week! I have good connections - What they did will come back on them - at some point in time! What I miss most is my late 1700's Cast iron Cook pot - I used for out camping and at camps! That is what is not replaceable - for 22.00 bucks at a flea market! Bummer! It just ticks me off how disrespectful and hoytie toyite people can be with they are "roof rats" and only know mother earth as something to disrespect and abuse! They only know and understand "mow the yard" keep it clean and all "perfect" according to what they perceive and only understand - same level as ignorance in my mind!
I am having too much fun teaching people who want to learn - and change - I do not have time to waste on ignorance! So therefore I leave it up to God the Creator and Mother Earth!
Hi,
My Mortgage Lifter is an enormous plant, more like a shrub. It has several huge tomatoes and some new ones developing. I will let you know how they taste and the yield. It has such an interesting history, and in light of the times......Will keep you posted!
Hi, I have been absent for awhile and just noticed your comment....I don't have anything on a roof.....Just a couple of cement patios and one covered porch???
Kind of you, Tar! I am sure I will. I am just from my garden. Revised some arraements for greens beds after visiting Maggie's page. Good luck to you too.

Kitchen Garden Day has traditionally been celebrated at the end of August which is a great time for gardens in temperate, northern climates but not a great time for many other gardeners around the world (e.g. August is winter in the southern hemisphere, monsoon season in India, too hot for many gardeners in southern states, etc.).
We're exploring the possibility of changing the date to the spring and would like your input. Please answer our poll here.
I started my first garden ever in late May!
Thanks to all my friends and everyone on here, I feel I have been soooo blessed!
I can't wait to work my soil and begin again in March!!!!!!!
I think this might need it's own category, don't you? Tomatoes are one of the most popular things to grow and we've been placing them in all kinds of groups, but the fact is we almost all grow them, and they have specific needs.

I got my information from the 2010 catolog, I left the website so anyone could look the product up. The catolog says that it is safe for vegetables, that the oil repellent in some bugs & suppresses feeding instincts in others. I have not…
