Hi Dr D.K. Sadana,
Welcome to KGI.
I have an A-frame house, but I understand a lot of people use the flatroof for gardening.
Doctor sahib, your comments are great source of encouragement for me. Organic Farming is my passion since last five years and photography since school days.
BEETAL is the breed I have... giving 2 to 2.5 kgs/day.
GulGul! I am glade you have. Can you tell me what is the best use of this GulGul? Over here people say its good for cows, it is too sour to eat.. my mother use this for ACHAR (Pickle). This is the only way we are consuming it.
Sounds like you live in an important agricultural area. I do too. Here our farmers grow wheat, barley, potatoes, corn, beans, etc. I have a small garden in which I grow lots of culinary herbs, lettuce/spinach, green beans, tomatoes, carrots and beets. I wish I had more space, and also better light. Neighboring trees and buildings give my garden too much shade for optimal harvests. I hope you enjoy KGI.
Floating Gardens are 1000 years old or older, but you have put a new spin on it . Great Job!! The owl scares birds, what does the rabbit & duck scare off?!!
I love this site ,I am always seeing new & wonderful things.
I am waiting to hear if yours is sweet as well !! Be sure and let us know !! When mine is made I just bag and freeze it in meal size for two !! I have more freezer space than pantry space !!
That is awesome Glenn...thanks for sharing! Inspirational...I have some ideas now!!! Yeah, I think I'll be doing a lot of experimenting next year and a lot of blogging about it =) you never know, like Joel said, I just may get a book out of it along…
Wow, this is great! I'm attempting to garden on a boat (we liveaboard in the summer) and I was thinking of doing something like this on a small skiff next to it...Thanks for the inspiration!
Hi Letti
Thanks for the info about the contaminated manure. I have not bought manure now for several years in the UK. This was since we had the foot & mouth and BSE scares.
I think that municipal compost is your best bet, if you need to say bulk up…
Hi Kirsti
I think the dingy idea seems feasable. Then the plants would be out of the way of day to day activities.
Have you seen Margy,s floating garden pictures.
Yours would be a variation on that theme.
